What fails on the "absorber" ( 275 drive) if it does, looking at the schematic its hard to tell. What could fail? if it did and if it did what should i look for?
thanks
ted

Rivits and springs between the two discs can be loose or completely torn up. If the primary drive shaft bearings seize or the u-joints let loose, the springs can come flying off as the discs separate. Pretty impressive sight.

Ted, what you are referring to is the "Drive Coupler".
Your system will use a version of the Borg Warner drive coupler.
I would agree with Joe..... springs become loose, assembly rivots may become damaged, but not likely unless we have a pretty severe impact or ????
PDS bearing replacement is extremely important.
If you have the OHC 4 engine, the PDS can be removed from AFT.
If you have a V-8 using the double bearing PDS, the engine must be removed... shaft still removes from AFT, however.

What's causing your concern?
