Water pump housing face seal tool?

98 ALPHA ONE GEN II
DOING THE WATER PUMP AND IT DID NOT COME WITH THE FACE SEAL TOOL. I imagine the seal has to go under the pump housing? mushroom on top and seal flange under top of housing?
My damn kit did not come with the seal tool so can anything else be used?

i have tried so many times and could never get it to work.I started using the slinger from the Alpha pumps. all it does is keep hot exaust from entering the pump 25-30271 or Sierra18-7426
 
does the tool actually push the lower skirt of the seal into the pump housing? not sure what the heck else it would do?
if that were the case wouldn't that skirt part of the seal be hitting the impeller top as it was being whirled around?
My seal was gone when I took it apart so I don't have a visual of what is its supposed to look like installed.
I also hadn't noticed that the prop turns counter clockwise in forward and clockwise in reverse. found that out when I was putting it back in and had to turn the prop by hand in gear to get the gear shaft to settle in....... new to the boat late last fall so going through it all. also should you be able to move the prop by hand in gear when all back together ? mines seems awful stiff so want to make sure I didn't crank down the impeller housing to tight.

what type of drive is this. standard RH rotation in fwd. LH rotation for counter-rotation in fwd.The prop turns to the right when driven by the drive shaft. when viewed from the drive end
for a standard rotation drive.
 
Happy to report all is well. Sorry for the confusion but I meant to say is that when I was putting in the lower unit I could turn the prop counter clockwise and it would click going clockwise. I had to do this ( as u know) a half turn or so to get the drive shaft splines aligned. Once together I could not move the prop by hand. Water test revealed that "yes" prop travels , as viewed from behind, in a clockwise rotation. Took it out to the lake yesterday and runs great with NO leaks now of any drive fluid! It definitely sounds a bit more exhausty ( is that a word :) because I also replaced the drive shaft face seal, which was missing , so it sounds like before I had exhaust blowing into the water pump as well! Also replaced the shift shaft seals and the drive shaft seals while I was at it. Very stoked with the results!
