1998 5.7 mpi 300 hp belt alignment issues, shredded belt

My serpintine belt shredded the outer edge yesterday... Put on a new belt and noticed the seawater pulley and alt. pulley were out of alignment... Started up the boat and put up to about 1500 rpm and the belt started to jump.(just bought the boat this year and fixing all the sellers problems)...Did some research and found people were replacing the accessory mounting brackets, there was even one post of an old recall for this problem... Any input? engine s# olo82082

Use a straightedge to check pulley alignment on the engine. There was some extensive discussion about this issue a while back.

Yes the pulleys are out of alignment..However the bearings spin free and there is no play...Looks like the seawater pump bracket is toed in and the alt. pulley is over 1/4" out of plane (thought is may be the wrong alt, but went to the dealer and got a new one and it was the exact same alt..still gonna use the new alt. since the other is 15 yrs old).... Also going to try and get a goodyear gatorback belt when putting on new brackets..But more good news the motor schematic at the dealer is differant than mine, even when i gave him the engine s#.....Iam going to take off the brackets and take it to them to match up...
