Has anybody resolved a fluctuating tach issue? It happens at around 1000 rpm in idle no load. If I throttle up, it smoothes out. The tach is not the issue as I switched it out to the other engine and it worked fine. I traced all wires and connections and could not find a poor connection or corrosion. The points are new (1/2 season) and clean, so are the cap and rotor, plugs, wires, etc. The engines runs great at all rpm. I do not sense a change in engine sound or feel a miss when the fluctuation occurs. Even though it’s hooked up to the coil I know the tach gets its signal from the points opening and closing so I am ruling the coil out, right? I do not read any fluctuation in voltage but maybe the meter isn’t picking up subtle drops. Could it be a voltage reg, condenser, or something? Or am I just missing a subtle stumble or misfire? Any ideas?
