Overhaul 351 or not

I recently purchased a 1980 S

I recently purchased a 1980 Ski Nautique. It has a 351 in it. I checked with Correct Craft and it is the original engine that was installed in the boat. (Numbers match) Should I pull the engine and overhaul it. I have spoken with both previous owners and nothing has ever been done to the engine except preventive maintenance. Engine appears to run smooth. The engine is dirty and the engine compartment is too.

" I wouldn't unless you see blue smoke, low compression or internal noises. I've seen the 351s run over 1500 hours then do a valve job and keep going. If it is running fine leave it alone. Those Windsor engines are tough. "
