b83 Evinrude 60 HP idles good but bogs down in the water

" The engine cranks and idles

" The engine cranks and idles perfectly, runs great on the end of a water hose, but in the water just won't take gas. I've overhauled the fuel pump, have new gas tanks and lines, cleaned the carbs, checked the fire (good blue fire at least 1/2 inch long), compression is 155 & 160 lbs. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. "
 
What about the flywheel key??

What about the flywheel key???? If it is sheared and the flywheel is out of the position the timing will be off.Most carburetor trouble turns out to be something else.

"Did you manually remove and clean the fixed brass high speed jets? Also make sure that the small brass tube leading from the bottom portion of the high speed nozzle to the top slow sleed passageway is absolutely clean. Check to see that the throttle butterflies are fully open at the full throttle position.

The flywheel key is o.k. and I've cleaned all the jets and tubes. The butterflies are working properly. Would damaged reed valves result in this kind of operation?

When you say it wont take gas....does the motor stall when you put it in gear?
Does the motor keep running but wont rev?
Have you set the link/sync adjustment??
Sounds like the timer base may be stuck and timing is not advancing...
