"Back again because this the "only" place to go. I read in the manual to check valve clearance every 50 hours. As far as I know this has never been done in 10 years. A, how important is this and b, is it necessary? Thanks in advance,

"Not enough clearance will prevent the valves from closing, which will lead to low compression and burnt valves (which will bring even lower compression); and too much clearance will make valves open late and close early. Either case will translate into poor engine performance.

I think the above should answer both of your questions."
 
How can you check valve cleara

How can you check valve clearance with lash adjusters? I have an ohc 120B and the lash adjusters take up the space.

Replace it........ If you shim, then you goto a bad valve.
