"The other night I finally gave in and decided to pull up the floor, and inspect the gas tank. Didnt have to go far when I removed the inside panels , I noticed the fuel vent pipe had a crack running 3/4 of the way around. They had used 3/4 plumbers soft copper pipe as a vent, and it had been rubbing against the floor for forty years. Pipe replaced with rubber tubing, NO gas smell. I guess they installed a factory-installed future repair!!!"
