" How do I check for any pressure leaks in the power head. ie, crank case pressure ??
The motor is a 1974 ER, 3cyl, 70hp

Pressure leaks in the crankca

Pressure leaks in the crankcase are not common.If you remove the plugs and turn it over with a rope you can listen for the tell tale "puff" when the intake ports open.

" When the intake ports open and there is crancase compression you will get a "puff" as the higher pressure fuel and air charge in the crankcase goes into the cylinder,which is at lower pressure.The cylinder is at lower pressure because the exhaust ports open before the intake ports. "
