"Where the hose attaches to the manifolds at the first step water is leaking out of ports above the hose and at 2 ports on the side, is this normal or do I need bigger hose to slide up over the next step."
 
You need a bigger hose to fit

You need a bigger hose to fit over the next step on the elbow. The ports direct the water into the exhaust pipes and overboard.
