"I'm new to outboards and just starting to work on my 25 hp Chrysler that I got with a boat. My main question is can I really test it in my garage with the prop submerged in a large bin/bucket of water? I got it running one night and the next night it was just throwing smoke and stalling right after running. Would it act any differently on a lake? Can I even try and put it in gear in a tub of water?
It's getting good spark and gas. I'm going to check compression, clean the carb and check the impeller and lower unit oil since it was running pretty hot when I did get it running.
Thanks!"
