I just had the starter rebuilt

I just had the starter rebuilt and it wont turn the engine. I can turn the engine with a screwdriver on the flywheel backwards but not forwards? I just replaced the connecting rod bearings and put new heads on.

Ps. the spark plugs where our.
 
(Groan.) Looks like t

(Groan.) Looks like the motor has to come apart. My guess is that the bearing clearance is too tight--and you can't get away with that. Sorry.

PS: I always pre-run a motor on the floor of my shop before dropping it in a boat. Easy enough to do.

I i just move it forward and what is hard about it is that i rebuilt it in place because the engines are on the inside of the cabin.I think what is was is that when i put the connecting rod bearings in on the number four the bearings where really hard to get in i think i bought the wrong connecting rod.
