Hi
what would be the proper way to time a 7.4 merc.
I have read a few different ways. one said at idle.
one said in gear at idle. the other said at 2500 rpm.
thanks

"timed at idle speed. thunderb

"timed at idle speed. thunderbolt IV times normally. thunderbolt V requires a special timing tool. you cannot time it without. the timing varies all the time. the tool locks it in "timing mode" it's not a big deal, just a plug that fits in the dist. and a power wire. inexpensive. check what you have. probably V. (it's written on the module) also, I don't recommend starting a new string with every question. it makes it much harder to follow the whole picture. stay with one and get better advice."

"since I'm already bitchin

"since I'm already bitching at you, I may as well add YOU NEED TO BUY A BOOK. it will answer a lot of your questions, and (hopefully) keep you from making mistakes."
