" Would it be a good move from a preventative maintanence standpoint to change the head gaskets at the begining of the season,thereby having a new,retourqed gasket, and also checking for any corrosion etc?
Also any preseason tips you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Change the head gaskets(m

Change the head gaskets(make sure heads are flat).Torque and retorque after first run and cooldown.Blown head gasket are a cause of overheating and water getting into bearings which is not a good thing.
