" Bill,

You can lightly seat the jet and then back it out 1 1/2 turns as a starting point.

Start the engine and after it is warmed up, with the engine at idle speed, you can try leaning the mixture by turning the screw 1/8 turn clockwise. If the engine seems to pick up speed, you can continue this process. At some point, if you go too far the engine will begin to run roughly, and might even stall. Back the screw out 1/4 turn from that point.

If the engine does not pick up speed when you begin this leaning process, you might try richening the mixture by backing the screw out 1/8 turn and noting if it has any effect. If the engine runs better when you do this, continue in this direction. If you richen the mixture too much the engine will run poorly, especially as you attempt to increase throttle, due to a flooding condition.

When the mixture is set properly, the engine should idle smoothly and accelerate without hesitation.
