"I have a Clinton model j9 1106, serial 56416, could anyone tell me what the gas to oil ratio should be, what year it was manufactured, and what the horse power might be? Thank you."

"Jim, you have a single cylinder, air-cooled, 5 horse - probably mfg in 1968 (maybe 1969 - the J9 was a long running model).

Unless you find a sticker/plate on it somewhere calling for 16:1 the mix for this motor will be 24:1 using standard 2 cycle motor oil (same for chainsaws/lawnmowers) - not "marine" oil."
