Not getting rpms

"at full throttle my boat is o

"at full throttle my boat is only reaching like 2800 rpm,s. it doesnt hesitate or anything but it seems like i should be getting more than that. its a 81 thompson 23 ft offshore with a merc 228 i/o. accordind to my speedo im doing about 23 mph wide open at 2800 rpm?"

If you have Excel you can use a spreadsheet I posted on July 5 titled "BOAT SPEED FINDER AND PROP SELECTOR" to see what you should be able to do.
That will tell you if she is up to snuff or not.
