It's always good to find others with an American Skier boat. I don't have any suggestions as far as engines go. If I had to replace mine I think I would go as close to original as possible. Just to relate I have a 1991 American Skier Volante Sport Ltd. and love it since I got it in Jan of this year. Good luck on the replacement.
