"I need a technical interpretation. When adjusting the transom bracket shift cable on a Cobra, OMC specifies 7-5/8" +/- 1/32" from the cable crimp to the center of the linkage hole. I've always taken this to mean from the cable crimp end itself, rather than from the jam nut which tightens against the cable crimp. Any experience with which is correct? Thanks!"

"I have a 1991 OMC 4.3 liter Cobra I am having trouble with it shifting into reverse, when I do this it sounds as if the engine is starving for fuel and it putts and only sometimes goes into reverse about 1 in 10 times, I notice two small micro switches back by the engine that when I push the one in and shift into reverse it doesn't do that..Can anyone help with what the trouble might be and how to fix it, I assume it is in the shifting cables...Help!"
