"engine stalls after about 45 min. of operation, charging system quits working a couple minutes before the motor stalls. Using the power trim while the engine is running kills the motor. Tachometer reads 1000 rpm higher than actual engine rpm."

"Mitchell, sounds like potentially you have an issue with your stator (at least for one of your issues).

It produces the power for your ignition and charging system - since both die together, that could be your common point of failure.

Testing this would be a good place to start..."

"Hmmm. dead battery should not stall the motor. It is an ADI (stator) ign system. Seems like two different things are going on here. A bad ground anywhere in the engine wiring will foul up the CDM ign.if you have that style ign. That circuit plate that packs are bolted to has a ground strap. The charging system is probably not working anymore. The stator does not usually fail in this way, but it is a common to both. "
