"I am getting ready to replace
"I am getting ready to replace a shift cable on an alpha sterndrive. This side also has both the sender and limit switch broken off with the wires disconnected. The replacement units come with wires already attached and everything that I have read says that they are "hermetically" sealed to prevent water damage. What I haven't actually been able to determine is how the trim wires get from the inside of the boat to the housing. I assume that there is a chase of some kind, but it isn't very clear where this is.
Since I am replacing the shift cable, does it make sense to replace the tilt sender and limt switch at the same time? Or, is this an entirely different operation that would not be worth waiting for having the parts shipped to me?"
