"Good evening to all...

Had a question on anodes.
Apparently some models have them and some don't.
I guess a lot depends on your own special needs and all.

Have a 1977 55hp Evinrude without one. Motor is still very clean and runs great, but would it be possible to take the factory trim tab off and replace it with a zinc tab for protection?
The motor will quite be in saltwater for a few days to a week.
Having a little trouble deciding what to do here, as well as finding a suitable tab... Thanks ahead of time.

trim tab that works great, easy to take off, and put a new one on when needed. That's what I would like to do to the 55hp Evinrude but don't know if it's possible, or should I go another route...
thanks again...
Tim."

Don't use magnesium in salt water--too potent. The stock anodes sold for those motors will do the job.

I've found some zinc anodes, would I just get the cavitation plate model and mount it? Would that do the job?
Thanks again..."
