I'm having a hard time sta

I'm having a hard time starting this engine from a cold start. I bought a Tracker 175 this year and its the engine that come with it.

Any suggestions?

"Rob, the engine year would help - but in general "cold start" problems are almost always fuel related.

So here's a list of what "could" be wrong:

Improper starting proceedure

Tank vent closed, clogged/not functioning

Anti-syphon valve malfunction (if equipped)

Fuel line restricted

Fuel filter restricted/dirty

Enricher valve (or electric choke depending on model) not functioning properly

Dirty carbs (particularly the low speed jet)"

Sorry about that. Its brand new. I only bought it a month ago. once I've got it running it starts fine. but on initial start up its a bear to get going.

- I prime the bulb
- turn the key and press it in to choke.

I ususally takes a good 5 mins to get it going.

"Rob - I would suggest taking it back in then. It being brand new it is most likely a bad enricher (it happens) or something silly like they forgot to hook up the power for it at the keyswitch end.

It sounds like the motor isn't getting "choke" when you are trying to start it. The enricher is just a "super choke" - looks after all the carbs at the same time..

So take it to the dealer/vendor - it's going to cost you enough in the long run to play with this toy - use the warranty while you have it
