"1988 454 Crusaders about 1100

"1988 454 Crusaders about 1100hrs, what is the proper oil pressure? I have been using staraight 40 weight as recommended by the manual. At idle get 10-20 psi and at 3000 rpm get 35-40 on Port and 40-45 on starboard. Thinking the Port numbers are a little low? or am I ok?

What is the proper oil pressure at 3000 rpm? Should I switch to 30 weight? Would the lower viscosity "raise " the pressure some?"

Sounds healthy enough. Probably a minor variance in calibration of gages and/or sending units. I would not go lower in viscosity than is recomended by the manufacturer. Does not sound like anything to worry about.
 
Pressure is fine but the port

Pressure is fine but the port pump may be getting tired. Nothing to worry about right away. Stay with SAE 40.
