I'm in the process of conv

I'm in the process of converting my '71 25hp Evinrude to electric start and was wondering what size the Pos and Neg wires from the battery and between the solenoid to the starter should be? I'm guessing at least 8 awg.

My wiring diagrams for that vintage 25hp shows a 6ga wire from battery up to starter assembly...
