I need two coils for my 1951

I need two coils for my 1951 Johnson 10 HP Mod.QD12
Can anybody tell me where I can get a hold of these . I dont think I have any dealers in my area that handle stuff that old.

You may find that OMC parts were often the same for 20 years or more. The coils may in fact be the same as say a 77 model 6hp. Ask your dealer for some real help.

"As Sparky suggests, the original OMC part number for the 1951 10hp Evinrude/Johnson coil was 580118 but has been superceeded up to number 584477. This coil is still used on some of the later models and is available at your local dealership...... and possibly NAPA at a lower cost.

The above holds true if you indeed have a 1951 or older 10hp model. The 1949 and older models use a different coil.

You can define the later model coils by the metal portion of the coil... both ends would be the same length and appearance. The metal portion of older coils are of different lengths and one end has a odd shaped appearance.
