"Took my fuel filter and plugs

"Took my fuel filter and plugs in to replace. The gentleman said I should have an inline filter under the hood of the motor, but mine was in the motor well in line with the priming bulb? Also the plugs I was using were Champion J78C, but again these were wrong per the Johnson book. He said it recommended Champion Q77...
Does anyone know anything about the fuel filter on these and what plugs I should use?"

"As long as you have a fuel filter, that's what is important. It doesn't matter really where it is.

Use Champion QL77JC4 spark plugs, gapped at .040."
 
you have a filter under the co

you have a filter under the cowl also...from inside the boat look to your right and follow the gas line...it will probably have a cover a little larger than a 50 cent piece with a knurled knob on it..it has a screwdriver slot in it but a dime will do the job nicely...this is a very finely meshed flat filter that takes about 3 minutes to check from start to finish...
