"I just picked up an early 80's Glasstron with a Suzuki DT115 motor that losses power underload. The original owner dropped $2,800 on the top end for a rebuild. I took this boat out and it struggles to climb to 6K RPM, but eventually makes in neutral. It will not make it in gear and tops out at about 3K RPM and 30MPH. The motor is cutting out and the tach gauge is hopping when trying to get this going in gear.
Orig owner said he was getting 60MPH prior to this problem. I am guessing, fuel system problem somewhere? He said he just went through all the carbs, pulled and cleaned the fuel tank, replaced all fuel lines/filter assy, replaced the spark plugs.
I just ordered the OEM shop manual for this motor to get some ideas. My first step is compression, not sure though.
