"I have a 1991 volvo "431

"I have a 1991 volvo "431 series" It is a General Motors v-6. It gives trouble starting when cold. If I give it a little throttle it starts ok, but that's a problem because it is not set up to disengage the shifter from the control so that extra throttle can be applied from the remote control. The idle speed is good once it is running. Could it be a choke adjustment, or is there a cold start/idle devise that is not working properly -or - any ideas?

what control are you using? I don't know of any that don't have throttle only option.

"It is a volvo penta, I pulled the control lever off and there is no linkage to disengage the shift cable, unless it has been modified, I bought the boat used this spring. now that you have made that statement I'll take another look. I thought there should be a throttle only position."
