"I have a belt like noise at idle, that goes away at 1500 and above, are there 2 belts, one for timing and one for alternator, or both items run by the same belt. Any ideas on source of the squeal."

"There is only one belt. Depending on the age of the motor, the cause could quite possibly be the counter balance unit. I know of only the F150's having a problem with this. To me the noise is similar to a cam belt idler gear noisey."
