" I recently destroyed the bendix on my port starter, which in turn destroyed my flywheel. I live aboard and want to know if I will have to haul the boat to replace the flywheel, or will i be able to perform afloat. Worried that the shaft seal will become dislodged and leak profusely, when i pull the transmisson. Any input would be great. "

" Andrew, the shaft will leak a little but if you have operating bilge pumps it will be no problem. Assuming you have a straight drive it's a easy chore. Also don't forget to properly support the rear of the engine,ie; chain and beam. "
