We have a 1989 Sumerset with t

We have a 1989 Sumerset with twin engines. The trim cylinder on the port side needs changed. Can we do that without taking the houseboat out of the water? Or will removing it allow water to get in?
 
removing just a engine should

removing just a engine should be fine as long as you make shore the prop and shaft does not fall out you should be fine and as long as you plug(bloke)the inlet and maybe the exhaust to stop water coming up the pipes
