"I just bought a boat and it has the 1972 model 800. It really ran great and I was excited about my purchase. As I was getting things ready to load the boat onto the trailer, I was unable to tilt the motor up. I tried everything I could think of with no success. I had the Merc control in neutral thinking that would release the motor from the pin it was locked on, but no luck. After we got the boat out of the water, we removed the pin and were able to raise the motor. The pin is slightly bent. Could this be the problem, or is there something else I am missing?"
