"I have a 1974 65hp 3cyl outboard that has a intermittent starting problem. Sometimes it starts right up and other times it does not. When it does not there is no spark. Once it starts it runs fine and does not miss or quit. If it fires once it seems to fire-up fine all day. I have checked voltages to the switch box and ignition trigger, all seems the same when it has spark or doesn't. Do either the switchbox or trigger typically fail in this manner on a Mercury? Any help or things to check will be appreciated."
