"On my 50 hp 4stroke, If I idle over 5 minutes tne overheat alarm will go off; if I rev it up a good bit, it silences the alarm. I assume the water pump impeller is a bit undersized and will not push enough water to cool at a slow speed. This will eventually need to be replaced, not an easy job i understand"
