"1998 Merc 60hp ELPTO. Low hours. Does get stored for the Winter being MI.
The trim/tilt on this engine has become inconsistent over the past two years. Most often it has no problem lowering the unit at all, but will sometimes not go up. If I quickly toggle the switch back and forth, (whether on the engine itself or at the remote throttle), GENERALLY it will eventually reverse and lift it just fine.
I am not versed in hydraulics, but it does not appear there is a reversing valve assembly or a solenoid controlling flow, it just seems like the motor driving the pump either runs clockwise or counter clockwise. It seems like a electrical issue before the motor maybe?
Does this seem like a problem with the relay assembly? The harness?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated."
