Yes. 4.3 is 1:84 to 1. 5.7 is 1:5 to 1. 1992 and older. Newer are just a little diff. Also the higher the gr the more hp they can handle.

The reason I ask this question was my son just bought a boat with the 5.7 and Alpha I drive. My boat is similar to his but has a 4.3 with the Alpha I. I turn a 21 pitch prop. His has a 17 pitch on it. We were talking about this and I just made the comment that I bet the gear ratio is different in the outdrive. My 4.3 is 205 hp and his 5.7 is 210 hp but he must have considerably more torque than mine and this is why the ratios would be different."
