"Sam, I would pull the heads and inspect the cylinders. New rings ARE NOT your problem, since this motor has only been out for a few years. What cylinder or cylinders have lost compression? This motor also had a bad run of oil pump drive gears stripping out. What year is your motor? I am a certified Merc technician (have been for 15yrs now), so maybe I can point you in the right direction
