" Joe & All,
I recently acquired a 2000 225 Ficht that had a damaged lower unit. The prop shaft was bent(~1/32" off center), the forward gear and pinion gear were damaged, and the upper drive shaft was very slightly bent and slightly worn on one side (180 degrees) where it enters the water pump assembly; but it was still running (with some vibration). I don't know how long the previous owner operated it in that condition. I replaced the lower unit & drive shaft, but is it likely or even possible that the lower crank bearing could be damaged (or need replacing) as a result of running the lower unit in such condition?
Tks... "

" Wayne.... There is no way I could answer that question. However, the bottom main bearing on those engines take a horrible beating from the power of the bottom cylinders pounding on them with every revolution. In thinking about that, it seems unlikely that a out of line shaft could have any effect on the bearing.
