Cavitation or Prop becoming airbound

" I know this is not mechanica

" I know this is not mechanical issue. But, if anyone can help it would be nice.

I took my little 4hp Johnson out for the first time and it runs great. On my 14ft. JON "flat bottom" boat.

The thing is, as I get it closer to top end, the prop sucks air into the water and the RPM's go nuts and the boat slows down. I have tried adjusting the trim of the motor and no mater what I do, it keeps doing that.

Any Ideas???

Thanks,

I added dolphin fins to my 5

I added dolphin fins to my 5 hp Nisson to see if it would get my inflatable up on plane with two people on board. It did not help planing but it cured the cavitation problem I was having when motoring alone. Air was being sucked down along the motor shaft.
