" Ive got a 79 johnson 100 , killed the battery a couple times so I checked it while it was running and got 12.1 volts,changed the rectifier and now have 12.8 volts, is this the most I can expect? I figured at least 13.5 volts "
 
Lineman.... It depends on the

Lineman.... It depends on the battery. A first class battery will eventually read up to 14.5 volts. The charging system is a low ampere system (6 to 10 amp)and it will take a little while to bring a good battery up to that reading.
