"I foolishly bought a 1989 Bay
"I foolishly bought a 1989 Bayliner 85hp inboard Force motor on top of the not so famous L drive lower unit. From day 1 I have had nothing but problems starting with the lower unit not shifting right, head gasket blew out, exhaust gasket blew out,starter went out, shift cable sliped out of the clamp on the lower unit and then to top it off it broke the next day it was put back on.
But dispite the headache this floating money barge has caused me I am willing to give it one more season to redeem itself.
I have started dealing with the problems one at a time but have come to a Y in the road. I have a chance to get a GOOD running 125 outboard Force motor and need to know if I take the 125 power head off the outboard lower unit will it bolt up where the 85hp power head is now. Will there be enough head room to fit the 4cyl where the 3 cyl was?
Has anyone done or ever seen this swap before?
I would like to know before I pull the 85hp out.
