I HAVE A 1985 MERCURY 90 INLI

I HAVE A 1985 MERCURY 90 INLINE 6CYL WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE I GET A TICKING NOISE AND IT DOESN'T
SEEM TO BE ALL THE WAY IN REVERSE.
ANY SUGGESTIONS!

william....It sounds like your control cable is out of adjustment. Readjust your shift cable and see what that does for you. If that doesn t solve your problem you may have to drop the gearbox for further inspection.
