1500 rpm clutch engagement is this correct

I just bought my first diesel

I just bought my first diesel and was wondering at what rpm the engine should go into gear as I throttle up slowly? I sounds like it could be bad for it as it pops into gear at 1500 rpm. It is a Yanmar 2GM20F. Is it easy to adjust and is it just a clutch adjustment?
Thanks
Todd

Not sure exactly what tranny

Not sure exactly what tranny or drive you have. That engine should idle in the 550 to 700 RPM range and max out at 2250 RPM or so. It should be shifted into and out of gear only at idle. The idle speed in gear should be in the 550 to 700 RPM range. Good Luck. Did I answer your question? Kim

" You should have a KM2P Kanza

" You should have a KM2P Kanzaki transmission, make sure your shift cable is going into its full tavel. 1.5" either way. These gears do not usually slip,
If yours is slipping ie jerking in forward rpms.. then the bronze cone inside will have to be lapped in to the cups.. "
