the ohm meter readings on my

the ohm meter readings on my stator are 302ohms. the manual calls for 270 +/- 50 ohms. well within spec.the manual also says that the charge coils supply the powerpack with 300 volts ac. i connected my volt meter across the 2 leads going to starboard pack and cranked the engine. i read 74volts ac. is this the right way to test? if not what is? where could i find a neon tester at? im starting to point at the stator.

"Mike... #581505 was the original part number which was superceeded up to #581867. The stator is the correct part. Without actually being there, looking at the engine, I'm at somewhat of a loss as to what could be causing that intermitent spark problem. However, I did reply to your e-mail a few minutes ago.
