" Joe,
I may have solved my shifting problem. I loosened the two 5/16 hex bolts that secure the shift actuator cam (p/n 41) to the adjusting lever and shaft assembly (p/n 38), I then rotated the adjusting lever and shaft assembly slightly clockwise causing the upper shift rod (p/n 36) to disengage the reverse gear just a little more. This seems to have solved the problem. I just don? know if this was the proper way to fix this or should the lower unit be disassembled and the shifter clutch dog (p/n 11) be inspected for wear. There still seems to be a lot of slop in the shifter linkage. I? interested in your input on this. Leave it alone or look deeper? Thank you so much for making yourself and your years of experience with OMC available to all of us. "

" Johnnie.... Sounds like you found the cure to your problem. I wouldn't look any deeper... the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Just make sure the lower unit is full of lube though. Good luck.....
