I just rebuilt my carb on my m

I just rebuilt my carb on my mercruiser 140.the motor fires up and runs fine as long as i keep it runing i can turn it off for 5min and i cranks up and runs fine but if i cut it off and set for little while it will fire right up and idle fine up to about 1500 rpm then it starts to skip and it will do this for about two or three min and then it will stop and run fine.please any info will help

"Did it do this before you did

"Did it do this before you did the rebuild on the carb, if not, why did you rebuild the carb ?

Check your Plugs,Distributor cap, rotor and leads.
There could be a bit of a suspect lead or a bit of corrosion where it shouldn't be.

Check all the simple things first before you brake out the scalple.

Bige: Do you have an electric

Bige: Do you have an electric or stove pipe choke? Is it set to specs. or did you have to loosen it and turn it alot to get the butterfly in the correct cold position? Choke coils wear out by weakening over time. It is a bi-metal coil and will bind as it ages. Consider replacing it. Also look for binding in the linkage due to worn or misaligned parts.
