" I just got a deal on an old '78 evinrude. Compression is great at 110 per cylinder. I want to srart it up and tune it, but the ration is nowhere on the thing! manual long gone, too. No one open today to ask. Any assistance appreciated.

Duane;all Johnson and Evinrude outboards went to 50:1 oil ratio in 1965 any outboard newer uses 50:1.TCW-3 oil mixed at 1pint to 6 gallons mid-grade gas.Zeke

" 1981 johnson outboard "kicks" when reved to full throttle. It seems as though the clutch dog needs replacement from this symptom. I'm told that when replacing clutch dog, to also replace forward and reverse gears.

Can anyone let me know if I'm on the right track to replace these components? Also, it would be very helpfull if I could be advised where to buy these parts and whether to stick with OEM parts or go for Aftermarket?
