I have a 1979 murcury Mariner

I have a 1979 murcury Mariner 80hp I have worked on the motor for about a week it idles fine start great run good but as I bring up the rpm to get it on plane it will stop if I use the choke it will rev up and Ican get it on plane and it will run fine I have clean the carb. but I am stumped at what this is can you help
