ok here the situation....the o

ok here the situation....the outdrive is off and the motor is out...the gimbal bearing needs to be replaced...do i need all those expensive tools to remove and replace the bearing? or can i get away with other tools?

They make an alignment tool but I don't have it. The first time you put the lower unit back on it goes kind of hard the first time as it lines up the gimbal bearing with the splines in the engine. Just go slow and tighten evenly. You can take the old bearing shell and weld a long rod onto it to make a drive mechanism. The bearing will actually come out of the outer ring by turning inner bearing sideways and pulling.

yeah slide hammers are easy to find...i need the attachment to get behind the bearing to pull it out

my bearing doesnt even look like its budging at all.....are they really tight or can it be fused in there?

how do i find out what bearing i need? is there a part # for this bearing?
 
ok i borrowed the puller but t

ok i borrowed the puller but that was still a pain in the a@@ but its out...thanks guys
